Ypsilanti — Eastern Michigan hasn’t had a tight end like Josh Long in quite some time.
A thoroughly productive pass catcher and highly effective blocker, Long’s emerged this season as one of the best weapons and all-around players for the Eagles on offense. He’s a versatile piece who is a plus in the run and pass game, who hardly ever has to come off the field. And he’s quickly approaching some program records for his position.
“I would say it takes a lot for sure,” Long said of playing tight end at the college level. “You have to — there's a lot asked of you, with the motions, with the blocking, with the pass catching, and you have to do it all at a high level to be considered elite.”
If that’s the case, Long might be considered elite for the 2026 season he’s having.
